Memories and Tribute
It wasn't very often we got to see our Grandma, as we lived in separate states up until her last 2 years in the Northwest. But when we did get to see her, it was always very special for me (eldest granddaughter) and my siblings. She had such a contagious zeal about life. She taught me how to laugh at myself, treat all people, even strangers, with love. We always shared a passion for animals and fashion, so this is what we often talked about. I remember from a very young age the way Nana would light up a room with her smile and laugh. She really knew how to make someone feel like a million bucks.
One of my favorite childhood memories was when my sister and I stayed at her apartment for a few days and she let us try on her entire closet and primp with all her makeup. We would prance around her place, modeling anything we could find. She never fussed about the mess we likely made, or the makeup we certainly ruined.
Last year my husband and I were able to visit with the family and watch her play a few piano pieces. Boy could she play a piano! I remember her singing more when I was little. A very talented lady she was!
I will miss her sense of humor and warm hugs. Love you my precious Nana Ruth, R.I.P.
