Shannan Barrett Dumke

To Mrs. Baier's famly~ Just wanted to send my prayers out to all of you. Mrs. Baier was by far my favorite teacher. I had her for 4th grade in 1970/1971. I always loved her infectious smile and twinkling eyes! She had such a big heart and I loved the fact that she loved her 3 daughters and husband, and had such pride in them! As it is I had 3 daughters as well and now know the same joy she experienced! I ran into her a few times over the years, the last time was at the foot Dr. in Coupeville. I recognized that smile and her eyes instantly, but knew she would probably never remember me! Well, I said, "Mrs. Baier?" She looked at me and I quickly told her she has been my teacher. I said "Shannan" and was about to say my last name and she said, "Barrett". I know at some point in my early twenties I sent her a card when I was living out in Wisconsin, because I wanted her to know the impact she had on my life. I think this might be why she remembered me. But then again, I believe she probably remembered most of her students! One memory I have is of getting to watch a TV show, I believe it was Jeopardy, because one of her daughters was on it! That was pretty impressive to a 9 year old! May you rest in the assurance of God's promise of eternal life. I will look forward to a grand reunion with my favorite teacher when I pass from this world into God's arms! God bless you all! Shannan
