Condolences

Condolence From: Shannan Barrett Dumke
Condolence: To Mrs. Baier's famly~
Just wanted to send my prayers out to all of you. Mrs. Baier was by far my favorite teacher. I had her for 4th grade in 1970/1971. I always loved her infectious smile and twinkling eyes! She had such a big heart and I loved the fact that she loved her 3 daughters and husband, and had such pride in them! As it is I had 3 daughters as well and now know the same joy she experienced! I ran into her a few times over the years, the last time was at the foot Dr. in Coupeville. I recognized that smile and her eyes instantly, but knew she would probably never remember me! Well, I said, "Mrs. Baier?" She looked at me and I quickly told her she has been my teacher. I said "Shannan" and was about to say my last name and she said, "Barrett". I know at some point in my early twenties I sent her a card when I was living out in Wisconsin, because I wanted her to know the impact she had on my life. I think this might be why she remembered me. But then again, I believe she probably remembered most of her students! One memory I have is of getting to watch a TV show, I believe it was Jeopardy, because one of her daughters was on it! That was pretty impressive to a 9 year old! May you rest in the assurance of God's promise of eternal life. I will look forward to a grand reunion with my favorite teacher when I pass from this world into God's arms! God bless you all!
Shannan

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear about your Mother's death. I will always remember her
and her stories. I remember visiting her and Uncle Mickey at their place on
Whidbey when John and I were first married. We had gone to Seattle for a trip
and included going to see them. My Mother also provided many stories to keep
that side of the family close to us.

Condolence: Dot was the best mother-in-law I could have hoped for. She was always kind to me and of course, always worrying (not only about me but for everyone). A thing I will never forget is how she couldn’t stand when someone was in one part of their house and others were in another part of the house – she needed to know what was going on and probably wished she could be two people at one time. I admired her competitive soul – she did not like to lose and if you ever played croquet with her you would understand that. She, and KC, were very generous. In our time of transition from the Marine Corps to the civilian world they graciously let us stay with them while I looked for my first civilian job. Dot was also a very, very good grandmother. For 3 years we lived in Oak Harbor and she and KC attended most of their grandchildren’s activities during that time – memories they will always have. I have great memories of my 22 years of being part of Dot’s life and I will miss her!
