Obituary for Delores Pauline Stevenson

Delores Pauline Stevenson
A Truly Beautiful and Loving Spirit.
Delores Pauline Stevenson
April 18th, 1939 – April 18th 2015
Delores Pauline Stevenson (Grinde), her family called her Dolly. She was a 47 year resident of Maple Valley WA before moving to live with her daughter in Langley WA. Delores passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 with her son Russ and daughter Donna at her side. It was her 76th Birthday.
Delores had a great faith in God, but being of Norwegian heritage, she was a person with tenacity and independence, but she loved to dance, and was always ready for an adventure. She was so full of love for all great and small, she had a smile ready all times and a laugh that usually followed.
Delores was born in Sisseton, South Dakota, on April 18, 1939, to Andrew and Agnes Grinde. She moved with her parents and 4 siblings to Seattle as a child. She married Bob Stevenson in 1958 but later divorced in 1974. They lived in Seattle for a time, then moved to Renton before settling in Maple Valley.
As a young woman Delores worked as a waitress and at Sears before being employed by Boeing in 1962 for forty-seven years, she was a respected lead; she loved her job, enjoyed her co-workers and received many awards and accommodations over the years.
While working at Boeing Delores fell from a ladder and had a traumatic brain injury which brought on the onset of presumed Alzheimer’s. She was a very strong woman and faced many adversities, raising 3 children alone, the family home burning down, a 12 year survivor of Breast Cancer. However, in the end she wasn’t able to beat the complications that lead to contacting the bacteria Necrotizing Fasciitis that had spread undetected in her body.
Delores loved and is loved by her three children: Russell and wife Pam of Auburn, Robert of Maple Valley and Donna of Langley; four grandchildren: Kelsey, Sara, Brooke and Jacob; her brother Elmer Grinde and wife Monica of Battleground, WA; also, numerous nieces, nephew s and other relatives.
