Grandma Belle

A mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many. It was a pleasure to hear from all my friends and family that She was truly a sweet person. Grandma always put family before herself, from sleeping on a recliner and giving up her bed, to waking up earlier then everyone to make breakfast for them. No matter what the request was for dinner or a random trip, Grandma Belle would always make sure everyone was taken care of. Most of all, Grandma was always understanding, thoughtful, loving and genuine. Grandma used play scrabble for hours, just to give us more opportunities to hopefully, by her grace, just win one game. I personally know I never really won a game against her, but sat there with happiness seeing her play my tiles and hers simultaneously… After throwing that Silly Spelling Game aside, I then would challenge her to Rummy. Which we all know, unfortunately had many different versions and needed to be clarified before the game started. But Grandma Belle, being Grandma Belle, would let you pick up and discard/recard/discard again and smile just to sit down and spend time with you. I see the important things Grandma taught from all of those games over the years. It was about sitting there with no distractions and admire each other’s humor, cleverness, smiles, but most importantly, our unlimited time together. Now, as I spend time with my kids, I hope to also admire their humor, cleverness, smiles and most importantly time together. Grandma, I am so lucky to have you in my life as I grew up and I know you are an example to all the women and men in this family. Thank you for being a person of God and person who cared for my family. I do wish for one more board/card game with you to see you laugh, smile, ask if I’m hungry and say “O Zachary”… But, I know you are with God and you are making Him as happy as you made us. You will always be remembered and loved. Your Grandson, Zachary
