Her cousin, Vera May's memories

I did see where she went to "Pumpkin school", and been working on my "old" worn out memory ever since as to where that was located?? There were country schools, but never heard of that one. I DID know where aunt Nellie and Uncle Otis lived on his parent's farm. It was out of my Dad's rural mailroute north of town, on the right side of the road. Later they moved into town. They lived on the south edge of town for a short time, then lived across the street from us. Rosemary, my sister Margaret, and I played together a lot. I have a several memories of Rosemary's childhood, and of her parents. Aunt Nellie was my Dad's sister. Uncle Otis's parents lived in town, after moving from the farm. His father, (Rosemary's grandfather, O A Tweedy) owned a grocery store in Unionville. My parents bought a lot of groceries there. The Tweedy's were very nice people, I bought a lot of penny candy in their storel. Ha! Ha! Gosh, you could get a sack full back then for one penny! I remember we got 5 cent ice cream cones up the street at Minor & Naomi Scotts gas station and cafe. My brother (Paul Dean) got a better deal on ice cream cones than we did before that though....he would raid Mom's (Della's) button box, when she wasn't looking, to get a button to give Naoma Scott for an ice cream cone! That worked well for a while, she thought it was so cute, then got to thinking, it was messing up his training, so she told Mom what he was doing. He was in trouble! Mom warmed the seat of his pants and taught him to use a nickel for his ice cream cones.
