The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rosanne Walter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Rosie Walter in Pullman

Rosie is the name we knew well after meeting her in Pullman where she was studying in academia. I believe she may have attained a PhD from WSU. There was a core group of Nez Perce tribal members in school at the same time and our paths crossed. There was an immediate rapport, and thereafter she became a member of our student and family residing there. Clearly Rosie was old school and very independent; but so endearing!  After she left WSU and returnend to her island home near Oak Harbor we rarely heard from her. We knew that it was not her natuure to isolate herself as she was so gregariious; and very witty. Surely she was an active community member in her home town? There are many fond memories of her life and times with us in Pullman. She might even attended a Nez Perce Tribe General Council.  She was an enrolled member of the Tribe. Love to all her family and loved ones.
