The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rosanne Walter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Favorite Teacher

I met Miss Walters as a seventh-grader--and stayed with her through graduation from high school. She instantly captured all of us because she was younger and more energetic than most of the other faculty members. She was always upbeat and very funny-- She was short, had short, dark hair, and the late-60's, early 70's dark rimmed glasses. She conducted her music classes with a firm hand, expecting the best from us, fixing our horns as needed, teaching us the basics of music and handled the entire program in the district. She took us outside the community to perform and listen to music; to Western State Hospital, Canada, and various nearby communities to partner in music-- on and off the island. She personally took an interest in my education, assisting me in enrolling at Washington State University and launching my educational journey, which ended at Gonzaga University, where I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership. I credit Rosie with starting me out. I still play ball clarinet and saxophone in local bands! Rest in peace, Rosie-- we love you!
