The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rodney Rientjes can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Anna Rientjes

It is with both joy and grief that I share memories of Rod, my nephew and friend. He was a charmer, even as a little boy, with a contagious smile and quick wit. I remember Rod’s thoughtfulness and the way he would give you his full attention, asking questions and wanting to fully understand what you meant. He greatly encouraged me when I, at an advanced age, went back to college saying that I was up to the challenge. Rod loved to learn; he got his pilot’s license and gave me a ride over our neighborhood that I will never forget. Rod suffered greatly after a near-fatal motorcycle accident that changed his life in many ways. When I think of his life, I see it in two chapters – before and after the accident. It grieves me to think of the profound confusion and distress he endured for years, but it gives me great joy to know that he is whole, well, and safe at home with the Lord now. He was greatly loved and will be missed, but we look forward to a grand reunion with no more tears one day! “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:21
