Condolences

Condolence From: Virginia L. Eicher
Condolence: Phyllis and I met as we were traveling from Long Beach to Fresno & Merced to visit with family. She had a carrier with a tiny little poodle, Ruffles in it. I started a conversation and discovered we only lived a couple of blocks from each other. We exchanged information and after our vacations, we began a 40 plus year friendship. We started taking vacations together as we had families in similar areas. I had family in the Seattle area and that was one of our vacations. We went to Victoria B.C. and explored Anacortes and Whidbey Island and on our 2nd vacation to Whidbey, Phyllis bought a house. We packed up both of our homes and moved. I have shared a house with her since 1985 when we were both ready to retire and we decided to move to Coupeville, WA. She found another house on Pennington Hill that was new and for sale. It was perfect for sharing as it has bedrooms on either side of the house. We played cards and word games in the evenings and shared our thoughts and memories. She shared her little dogs too, and I would walk them in the neighborhood and we would visit with neighbors. She loved gardening and when we first moved to Coupeville, we joined the Garden Club. At first it was to meet people, as we didn't know anyone in the town. We met many good friends, I never learned to garden, but Phyllis loved it and her yard showed it. I will & do miss her dearly.
