Kathy Kirkemo-Clark

Mom - You have been the heart of our family and a constant in my life. I can’t imagine my life without you in it, even as it brings me great comfort to know that you’re no longer suffering and that you’ve reunited with Dad. How do I find the words to let you know what’s in my heart, words to tell you how much I love you to thank you for all that you’ve done for me and to describe my world without you in it. But this is my feeble attempt. You were an amazing mom, and an amazing model for me as a woman. Only when I became a mother myself was I able to realize the sacrifice and love that you gave me while growing up. Even in my adult years, you still worried and cared about me. You could even tell by my voice when something was bothering me. I will miss our many hours of talking and sharing. You and Dad were there as my safety net, especially when I was going through my divorce. Your confidence and belief in me just made me work harder to prove that I could go it alone. And I have accomplished just that. Thank you for being there for me through both the good times and bad times. I was delighted to be able to make you and Dad first time grandparents. What a wonderful relationship you shared with Molly. You and she had a very special connection and I am grateful for the love and care you gave to her. I will miss our times together and the fun times that you, Molly and I had so often. We were certainly the Three Musketeers. And then Molly was able to give you your first great-grandchild, Evan. I know she was so proud to present him to you! The look on your face and your smiles, when you were holding him, are priceless! Even in your final months, you showed me what an amazing person you were. I have always admired your strength and compassion, and that never went away, even in your last weeks. Your main concern was to be treated with dignity. I hope that you know that you lived your life with dignity, you treated other people with dignity and you died with great dignity. Thank you for giving me life and thank you for being such a big part of my life. It’s been an honor being your daughter, but with great sadness I must say goodbye for now. The three of us (your “kids”), in profound grief, must now try and step up to fill both yours and Dad’s shoes. These are rather large shoes for us to fill, but we will do it, because we have you and Dad as our parents. What a great legacy you have given us! Thank you. All my love, Your loving daughter, Kathy
