Obituary for Karl Alvin Barden

Karl Alvin  Barden
Karl Alvin Barden, 73, after a valiant 14 year battle with cancer, died peacefully in his Port Ludlow home on October 4, 2013 under the care of his loving family and Jefferson Health Care Hospice.

He was born in Spokane, Washington to Carl M. and Hilda M. “Teddy” Barden on February 14, 1940.

He graduated from Jenkins High School Chewelah, WA in 1956 as Valedictorian- later graduated from University of Washington School of Dentistry as its youngest known graduate in 1962.

He practiced dentistry in Spokane, WA for two years, relocated to Pullman, WA, where he enjoyed is dental practice from 1964 through 1984.

He earned a Doctorate of Ministry and of Pastoral Theology and was ordained into the ministry in 1975 in Pullman where he was one of the founders of Living Faith Fellowship and served as Senior Pastor for almost 30 years. He travelled both nationally and internationally, and authored two books.

In 2001, Karl and his wife Sherri retired and relocated to Port Ludlow. He served as associate pastor and member of the Board of Grace Christian Center, and as Chaplain for personnel of the first-responders in the Sherriff’s and Fire Departments. Additionally he was a past president of the Olympus Beach Tracts system, and served on the Board of the Admiralty II Condominiums.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherrillann T. Barden, three daughters, Tami (Jay), Kari (Phil), and Juli (David), nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Larry Barden of Deer Park, WA, and Arden Barden, of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, and a sister, Carol Smart, of Lake Isabella, California.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1pm at Grace Christian Center in Port Ludlow, Washington, and Saturday October 26, 2013 at 1pm at Living Faith Fellowship in Pullman, Washington.
