Obituary for Jon Michael Kranig

JON MICHAEL KRANIG
Jon Michael Kranig, age 38, longtime Oak Harbor resident, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 19, 2010.
Mr. Kranig was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on Aug. 25, 1971, to William and Kathleen (Giernett) Kranig. He left Duluth with his family during his teen years, and settled in Oak Harbor, graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1989. On October 30, 1996, Jon married Doreen Lynn Osburn in Oak Harbor. He was employed by Krieg Construction for a number of years. Jon enjoyed outdoor activities, especially camping, hunting and crabbing. He was active in youth sports such as Little League and he attended all home Oak Harbor Wildcat football games. Jon had a huge heart, and dearly loved his family. Above all else, he enjoyed his role as a great dad.
Jon is survived by his wife Doreen and son Dakota of the family home in Oak Harbor; his parents, William and Kathleen Kranig of Oak Harbor; his grandmother, Lorraine Giernett of Duluth, MN; aunts and uncles: Diana & Jerry Mahnke, Julie & Steve Miller, Patty & Dave Frestedt and Terry and Rita Giernett, all of Duluth, MN, Jim & Rita Kranig and John & Pat Kranig, all of Fond du Lac, WI and Jean & Harvey Honig of Madison, WI; cousins: Nina, Robbie, Eric, Patrick, Barbra, Sally, Chris, Lee, Jennifer, Julie, Chad, Danny, Amy, Kristin, Ashley and Joe; also a host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Oak Harbor Church of the Nazarene, 1100 W. Whidbey Ave. A reception will follow at Deception Pass State Park West Beach Shelter near Cranberry Lake. Memorial donations may be made to the Jon Kranig Memorial College Fund at any Whidbey Island Bank Branch.
