Obituary for Harry A Hopkins III

Harry A Hopkins III
Harry A Hopkins III age 79, of Coupeville, WA passed quietly and peacefully on July 20, 2016 at Home Place Memory Care, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Harry was born in Sanger, CA on November 14, 1936 to Harry A Hopkins Jr. and Geraldine Hopkins. He was raised in Bakersfield, CA, graduating in 1955 from East Bakersfield High School and attending Bakersfield Jr. College.
Previous to marrying Patty Alton in 1960 he worked at Kern Oil and Refinery and was soon after drafted into the Army. He served in Korea and received a Honorable Discharge. Once he returned he continued to work for Kern Oil and Refinery until he retired.
In 1998 he and Patty moved to Whidbey Island where he loved watching fabulous sunsets, walking on the beach and enjoying all of the nature in the Pacific Northwest. Harry was a gentle man, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and veteran. He will be greatly missed by us all.
He is survived by his loving wife Patty of 56 years, daughters Dena Myers and Diana Patrick-Dworak and granddaughters Tara Anderson, Megan Cooper, Lauren Myers and Paley Patrick.
His wishes were not to have a formal service but there will be a family memorial with Military Honors at Los Angeles Odd Fellows Cemetery August 4, 2016. Contributions to your local Alzheimer’s Foundation of America would be appreciated. Please share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
