Obituary for Genevieve Elizabeth Davison

Genevieve Elizabeth Davison
GENEVIEVE ELIZABETH DAVISON
Genevieve Elizabeth Davison, age 92, of Oak Harbor, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Davison was born in North Canton, Ohio, on March 6, 1921, to Lester and Katherine (Horton) Swearengin. She was raised mainly in Ohio, and she attended Ohio State University for several years. After marrying Howard Harry Baer, the couple lived in Arlington, VA, where they raised four children. They later moved to Sunnyvale, CA, where Genevieve was employed with Varian Assocs. as a lab technician. She later married Russell E. Wilson. They lived for a time in Mountain View, CA, and then moved to the Tri-Cities. While there, Genevieve became employed as a research specialist for Battelle Laboratories. Russell Wilson passed away, and she then married Jerry Davison. The couple resided in Kennewick until their retirement, at which time they moved to Oak Harbor.
Genevieve was a generous and giving person, always ready to help others. She served as a volunteer ombudsman, assisting the elderly. She was an active member of the Oak Harbor Garden Club, and worked diligently to beautify the area. Genevieve and Jerry were also members of the Mustang Club and the Whidbey Cruzers, and enjoyed taking auto excursions with their fellow members. She and Jerry obtained one of the first Dogs for the Deaf, Bizzy, and both promoted that organization to provide assistance dogs for other hearing impaired people.
Genevieve is survived by her loving husband Jerry; by five children: Donald D. Baer (Diane) of Gilroy, CA, Lynne Baer Pihl (James M.) of Woodinville and Thomas A. Baer (Barbara) of Cupertino, CA; also, by Nancy Harbour (David), Greg Davison (Debra), numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and friends around the world who became 'family' during their deployment in Oak Harbor. In addition to two husbands, she was preceded in death by her son James E. Baer, Jerry B Davison and grandson Craig L Sabich. "I will look for them in Heaven."
Interment will take place in Ohio, next to her parents. Donations are suggested to Dogs for the Deaf, 10175 Wheeler Rd., Central Point, OR 97502. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences on her Memorial Web Site at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
