Edith

It is said that everyone that come into our lives were placed there by divine intervention so that we may learn and grow. Edith came into my life some forty five years ago, and immediately became my second mom, to a young sheltered naive girl away from home for the first time. She was a true friend, protector and in every sense a mother. She would always introduce me as her daughter, which to this day confuses some to no end. I remember getting an award in my profession and neither my parents or Edith could not be there. so there were her parents, Charles and Alice Minty, gift and all sitting through some lengthy ceremony so i could have someone there. This was the type of caring person Edith was. Edith was a force unto her own. Her smile, her infectious laugh, wit and sense of humor, her love of practical jokes, her love of God and her faith and especially her love for her children, and the importance of family unity made her a very special person. One thing as Joseph would tell you, you never crossed mom, she had a long reach and she was faster than you thought possible, and she could lay a guilt trip as only mothers can. Edith didn’t always have an easy life. But she loved life and enjoyed not only the finer things but the simple pleasures given to us all by our creator. Her happiest times were spent with her family and meeting and making others feel welcome and comfortable, in whatever job she held. Her house was always open to everyone. As you look around, you will see the beautiful legacy she has left; her family, in whom she instilled the importance of hard work, honesty, kindness, a love of learning and reading, the importance of family, faith and above all service to others in whatever capacity possible. She did the best she could, with the tools she had and her children are testament to her strength, influence and conviction she had to the very end. Edith got me through many dark days. We talked on the phone weekly or even two or three times. We laughed, we cried, we prayed. The last time I talked to her was a few days before her passing, even then the ever caring mother said don’t cry sweetie, I love you it is okay. I will miss her and those calls, but I can still talk to her, I just have to hear for an answer from her with my heart and that is what her family should remember, that she will always be around and with us and to listen with your heart for an answer. Edith, we are all blessed for having you touch our lives. I thank you for giving me the honor and privilege of being godmother to Gina and Joseph. Lastly I want to thank Kelly who so patiently and lovingly, looked after her mother, that is truly a divinely blessed service. Edith you were a truly beautiful person. Beauty is not just in the face, beauty is a light in the heart, and you let you’re light shine bright. Forever loved and remembered and always in my heart, Margaret
