DORIS LORRAINE DALKE
Doris Lorraine Dalke, age 90, of Oak Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Regency on Whidbey Harbor Care.
Mrs. Dalke was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 31, 1922, to Albert and Ella (Dood) Hansen. She was raised in South Gate, CA, and graduated from South Gate High School. On June 20, 1942, Doris married Robert Alvin Dalke in South Gate. The couple resided there for some thirty-five years, raising two daughters. After traveling the country in their RV for several years, they purchased seven acres of land in North Idaho, just across the line from Newport, WA. On this property, Robert designed and built their home. They later moved to Sequim, where they resided for ten years. In 2004, Doris and Bob moved to Oak Harbor.
Doris enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. In earlier years, she excelled as a ballerina. She was a member of P.E. O. International chapters in Newport and Sequim. She was also active in the Lutheran churches in those communities.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Linda Kirkpatrick of Garden Grove, CA and Stephanie Williams (Kent) of Coupeville; four grandchildren, Kathleen Burnett (Blaine) of Canyon, TX, Justin Kirkpatrick (Hayley) of Woods Hole, MA, Jason Williams (Duana) of Seattle and Jennifer Hunter (Scott) of Edmonds; also, three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Trinity and Brighton Hunter. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob on June 4, 2009.
