Boo

Bonnie Jean was my aunt, my mother's younger sister. My memories of her are vast even though she lived far from us for most of my life. The most memorable time was when she lived with us. Her family was moving out from Delaware and she came out to San Diego early. I drove her around to hospitals to look for work and we spent our afternoons in the pool in the backyard. In the end we wound up working a Christmas season at Wal-Mart until both of us found jobs elsewhere. She was the only thing that got me through working there over Christmas. She made fun of me for having a crush on the boy next door, she made me laugh through the long hours on the checkstand and I told her some of my deepest secrets. The family eventually moved out to Santee and we got to see each other fairly often. She met my now hubby and attended our wedding. I remember her taking me to look at wedding dresses, and me going with her to buy her dress to wear at the wedding. She was there for my mom when their brother died, she came to be there for my mom when my daddy died and she got to meet my son who was only 3 weeks old. She lived in Okinawa, Guam and all over the country and yet was always close in heart and spirit. As tough as it was to lose her on Christmas I could not think of a more fitting day. She is truly a Christmas angel now. I think of the fact that she is with family in heaven and that one day we will all see her again and it makes me smile. Our family has lost so many but we will all have a heck of a homecoming when it is our time and she will be leading the party. If you did not have a chance to know her, you missed out. She was fun, loving and caring and would do anything for her family. Now you will never catch me calling her Bonnie, she will always be Aunt Boo. I was told that when my mom was dating my dad she kept trying to scare him away and therefore they began to call her Boo. Whether that is the right story or not, Aunt Boo she will always be. I love you Boo. I miss you dearly and will be waiting for my hug when my time comes. Kris
