He enlisted in the Army Air Forces and was assigned to the Ferrying Division of the Transport Command in Long Beach, CA. As a pilot, Ted flew over 15 different types of aircraft, including B-17’s. Ted was honorably discharged in 1944.
Ted married Patricia (Patti) Ann Clark on April 1, 1950 in Los Angeles, CA. Ted attended the University of Southern California on the G.I. Bill where he studied architecture. After college, Ted joined the growing aerospace industry, hiring on at North American Aviation; he stayed with their Rocketdyne division, working as a technical illustrator, retiring after 31 years.
Ted and his family lived in Simi Valley CA from 1964 through 1980. Ted and Patti retired to Rogue River, OR where they rebuilt an old, rundown house into a warm and inviting home. After Patti passed away in 1984, Ted lived alone until he met and then married Georgia (Netherton) Fair in 1998. After Georgia passed away in 2003 Ted lived with Scott and Dawn Fair, following them to Whidbey Island in 2005 where he was very active in the Oak Harbor Senior Center. He kept busy with all the activities and events at the Senior Center and at Summer Hill.
Ted is survived by his 3 children, Scott Fair (Dawn), Wendy Campbell (Rick) and Darien Boydstun. Ted is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Michelle Glover, Shaun Boydstun and Brady Cole, as well a niece, Ruthe Bryant.
Ted was a quiet, moral and kind man who treated others with respect. He believed in the Golden Rule and practiced it throughout his life. He will be missed by many and fondly remembered by those who loved him.
