WALLACE STEWART CAMPBELL
August 26, 1934 – October 7, 2020
Wallace (Wally) Stewart Campbell died October 7, 2020 at the Whidbey Island home he shared with his wife Sally.
Wally was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. The final weeks of Wally’s life were spent at the place he loved the most surrounded by his family and the beauty of Honeymoon Bay. Wally is survived by his wife Sally, three sons, Clark, John and Robert, their spouses and six grandchildren. Wally was born in Seattle August 26,1934. As a lifelong Northwest resident, Wally attended Seattle Public Schools, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952, and earned a degree in civil engineering from Washington State University. While at WSU, Wally became a member of Phi Gamma Delta, and remained a lifelong supporter of both WSU and the fraternity. Upon being called to serve his country, Wally attended Officer Training School in Newport, Rhode Island, and was deployed as an officer in the Naval Construction Forces, known as the Seabees. Following his military service, Wally enjoyed an accomplished career with Peter Kiewit Corporation and Stillwell Gerard Construction Co. Wally had a gift for making the people around him laugh, feel valued, and loved. He never lost contact with the many friends he made throughout his life and believed strongly in giving back to his community. He served on the board of the Eastside YCMA, as an Elder and Deacon of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church and was a loyal supporter of the Seattle Symphony, and Ryther. The Salish Sea and the majestic mountains of the Pacific Northwest will forever be his home. Arrangements have been made with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial Funeral and Cremation Service.
