Obituary for Stephen W Marcus

Stephen “Steve-O” Wassil Marcus, 71, long time resident of Oak Harbor, WA, returned to his heavenly home on March 20, 2015.

Steve was born to the late John Marcus and Sylvia Tuian, a steel mill worker and a china manufacturing worker respectively, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on June 5, 1943.

In 1961 Steve joined the U.S. Air Force and worked as a chauffeur to Senior leadership until 1965. He then began his career as a tool and die mechanic at Lockheed from 1966 until March 1981.

While on vacation to Whidbey Island, Steve met Marnie, the love of his life, and on September 12, 1981 they were married. The newlyweds made their home in San Fernando Valley, CA and on October 3, 1982 they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Michelle Nicole, to the world.

In 1983, Steve relocated his family to Marietta, GA, where he worked for Lockheed Aircraft until 1989, then relocated to Oak Harbor, WA, to work and retire from Boeing. Oak Harbor became their permanent residence.

Steve was known for his avid love of the Seahawks, fishing, bowling, golf, RVing, people watching and was dedicated to his participation in the OHPD Citizen Patrol. In addition, he will be fondly remembered for his afro, big trucks, and his lifetime membership in the Pink Floyd fan club.

Steve’s family and friends will always remember him for his laughter, contagious smile, patience, gentleness, and his made up words.

Steve is survived by his wife, Marnie “Matriska”; his daughter, Michelle “Mick” and son-in-law Lucas; daughter, Kimberly and granddaughter Megan; son Steven; brother John and sister Margaret. He is preceded in death by his father John and his mother Sylvia.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Steve on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Grace Community. Celebration services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a light reception to follow.
