PRESTON LAWRENCE JOHNSON
Preston Lawrence Johnson, age 100, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Oak Harbor.
Mr. Johnson was born in San Jose, CA on January 3, 1915, to William and Filomena (Rogers) Johnson. He grew up in San Jose. He also lived in Los Angeles and El Cajon, CA, eventually retiring in Crescent City, CA. He later moved with his wife to Oak Harbor to be near his daughter Jacolyn.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, and served in the flame throwing infantry in Japan. He was married for sixty-three years to Shirley Ziegler, who passed away on February 10, 2009. He was employed as a commercial painter for more than fifty years.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his son Russell Johnson and wife Su; son David Johnson and wife Lori; daughter Jacolyn Stadler and husband Morris; daughter Jo Swinford; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; also, numerous other relatives. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by all of his siblings. He was the last surviving member of his generation in his family.
