Peggy Ann Schutte (Bomley) passed-away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2020 at her home in Coupeville, WA. She was 68 years old.
Peggy was born on February 22, 1952 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Eldon and Lillian Bomley. Her mother passed-away when she was two years old, and her father later remarried Ethel Bomley (Short). She enjoyed the farm life growing up until her father became a missionary, and they moved often. They settled down in Idaho where she graduated from Kamiah High School in 1970. She moved to Whidbey Island in 1975 to help Jim & Roberta Cargill in plant Lighthouse Tabernacle. Peggy always looked for God's confirmation before she made decisions. He confirmed this move was His plan for her through Joshua 1:3-5: "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you...I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you." In 1976 she met her husband Richard Schutte in Oak Harbor, WA and they married in 1977. In 1987, they welcomed a son, Camden Reuben, who became their world. She enjoyed home schooling him and faithfully attending his baseball games. In July of 2009, with her encouragement, the Schutte family bought Coldwell Banker 360 Team and 360 Property Management (formerly Koetje & Tara).
Peggy was a dedicated prayer warrior, known for her generosity, faith, and constant encouragement of others. All who love her enjoyed her contagious laughter and child-like spirit. She loved serving others, quilting, shopping, gardening, fixing things, and most of all spending days with her grandchildren. Peggy was an adrenaline junkie and made sure to pass this onto them. Her grandson said it best: "She did naughty stuff with Declan." After her passing he fessed up to driving her car and speeding around on her quad. It's not hard to understand why the kids would say Papa is old but Mema is young. She was their happy place and they are already excited about the trouble they'll get into with her in heaven one day.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Richard Schutte of Coupeville, WA; her son Camden Schutte and his wife Alexandra of Oak Harbor, WA; her beloved Grandchildren, Declan (5) and Norah (2); her mother Ethel Bomley, of Oak Harbor, WA; her brother Christopher Bomley; and her three sisters, Karen and John Swearingen, Debbie and Jim Goheen, and Deanna and Doug McKee.
Peggy is enjoying a long awaited reunion in heaven with her mother Lillian Bomley (Neher); her father Eldon C. Bomley; her three nieces, Jessica, Janeah and Janessa Goheen; her best friend Pam Albright; and best of all she is fully in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family held an intimate celebration of life at Life Church, with internment at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision in Peggy's honor.
