Lynda (Haun) Hjort, 77, of Anacortes Washington, passed away on October 30, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lynda was born on November 30, 1943, to Harold (Hal) and Florence (Flo) Haun in Seattle. Her family later welcomed her younger brother, Jay, who would become one of Lynda’s dearest friends. Her family moved to Van Nuys, California for five years, after which, they returned and became the proprietors of Sunrise Beach Resort, in the now bustling town of Langley on Whidbey Island.
Lynda met Carl Hjort in 1959 shortly after moving to Langley. Together they had many adventures with Lynda riding shotgun in their Model A. Lynda and Carl married in 1961 and welcomed their first child, Sue in the winter of 1962. Over the next several years they welcomed three more children, Don, Sandy, and Jeff. Carl and Lynda were inseparable over their 60-year marriage. They moved to Woodinville in 1968, where they raised their children. In 1998 they moved to Anacortes. She cherished adventures in their motorhome. Lynda’s family and home were her pride and joy.
Family came first to Lynda, but friends came a close second. She was a good listener who always made time for a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Lynda delighted in her children and nine grandchildren: Joshua, Jason, Emily, Sarah, Jeff, Brian, Kristina, Melissa, and Evan and her thirteen great grandchildren: Owen, Ella, Wyatt, Jayden, Austin, Calvin, Adeleigh, Emma, Taylor, Jane, Gracie, Jack, and Lorelei.
Lynda was predeceased by Hal and Flo Haun and her three Aunts: Verna Lopez, Edith (Dede) Christiensen, and Lucille (Lou) Sisom.
A celebration of Life will be held on December 5th at 1:30pm at Milltown Sailing Association in Everett Washington.
