KYA MARILYN KEEN
Kya Marilyn Keen (the little brown bear), age two, beautiful daughter of
Lt Col Carlton Keen, USAF and Tracy Keen, of Oak Harbor, passed away at Seattle Children’s Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Kya left this world while in the arms of her parents and she is now safe in the arms of Jesus and dancing with her brother, Carlton Jr (CJ).
Kya was born in Shaanxi, China, on October 22, 2011, and was adopted into the hearts and lives of the Keen Family on December 15, 2013. Due to congenital heart complications, she received several surgeries and spent weeks in Seattle Children’s Hospital under the amazing care of her doctors and many special nurses.
Kya is survived by her loving family, including her parents, Carlton and Tracy Keen and brothers Colton (8), Jackson (6), and Grantham (3), all of Oak Harbor; grandparents Don and Dorothy Keen of Mount Olive, NC and Rick and Elaine Lightkep of Pensacola, FL; great-grandmother Lucretia Lightkep of Pensacola, FL; also, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and beloved friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, 7:00 PM, at Spring Creek Bible Church, 567 E. Kellogg Rd., Bellingham, Pastor Steve Balvanz officiating. Visitation will precede at 6:30 PM. Interment will take place in Newton Grove, NC, Monday, June 9, 2014, with the assistance of West and Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove, cousin Joseph Franklin officiating. Memorial Gifts can be sent to Jana Taft at 7979 Valeria Place Sedro Woolley, WA 98284. Make checks payable to Don Carlton or Tracy Keen and Jana will make sure the Keen family receives the donations.
