Condolence: The last time I saw my wonderful Uncle Joe was when he joined me in the scattering of my father's ashes (Bill Saffrin), 2-1/2 years ago. Although his knees were not too steady, he managed make his way down to the river's edge and join us in honoring my dad.
I have such fond childhood memories of our family visits with dear Uncle Joe, Aunt Sarah, Mark and Scott at their home, trips to the mountains, hiking, canoeing, and camping trips.
Uncle Joe was one of the kindest, gentlest, and loving people I've known, and he will be sorely missed! My heart and condolences go out to EVERYONE whose lives he has touched throughout his own amazing life.....so much love, Maya

Condolence: To Scott, Mark & Joe's extended family:

My sincere condolences on Joe's passing.
Though I haven't seen your family since the 1970s, I remember all the fun we had skiing at Snoqualmie Summit when Joe was teaching skiing for my Dad's ski school (The Chuck Maiden Ski School). My Dad always said that Joe was one of the best ski instructors he had ever met. I remember standing in class and having Joe patiently instructing us (grade schoolers) on the proper stance for a 'snowplow'. He was always smiling.
Peace to all of you, Debbie (Maiden) Baden

Condolence: What a shock to find out dear Joe has passed away. He had such a tremendous personality and so much love for life. He was a good friend of my Mom and Dad's in Good Sams. They always spoke so highly of him. He was always so joyful and friendly, Super energetic, and always willing to lend a hand. I was just thinking of Joe the day he passed. What a blessing to have had this beautiful spirit in our lives and now we have this vivacious spirit looking over us. He will be dearly missed by all. So sorry to hear of your loss - our hearts and prayers are with you.

Condolence: I had Mr.Leopold for history and drivers ed (brave man) in the mid 70's. His attept to school me in the ways of the standard transmission we're no less than heroic, however futile. I also recall writing a poem about him in creative writing, and will share what I remember.
The man with the moustache,
He glared at me.
Your punishment, he said
Will be US history!

Oh, no! Not that!
I cried and I pleaded
Anything but that!
But I was defeated.

RIP Mr.Leopold

Condolence: I had the privilege of having Mr. Leopold for 2 semesters at Shoreline. Easily one of my favorite teachers and people, for the same reasons: his energy, kindness, enthusiasm, and humor were all plentiful and genuine. His passing is a loss for all of us who knew him.
