JOHN WARD DEIGHTON

John Ward Deighton, 89, lost his battle with dementia on March 29, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Augusta Deighton. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Voltin Deighton, his sons, Daniel (Susan) Deighton, Alvin (Terry) Deighton, John (Lori) Deighton, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and his sister, Eleanor Leighton.
John was born in Seattle, Washington, on June 3, 1933. As a teen, he moved to Greenbank, Washington, to live with his grandfather. He graduated from Coupeville High School in 1951 and worked for Sherman Farms for many years. Later, he bought into and worked at Anacortes Veneer. When the mill closed, he returned to work on the farm until his retirement.
In his later years, he found joy in his family, his garden, and cutting firewood. John was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
