Obituary for Jeffrey James Stewart

Jeffrey James Stewart
6/15/1954 – 4/10/2021

Jeffrey James Stewart was born on June 15, 1954 in Anacortes, WA to Howard and Rosalie Stewart and passed-away on April 10, 2021 in Anacortes, WA.

He and his family moved around in his younger years, from Alaska to Oregon and to many other places, before finally settling back in Anacortes where he completed his schooling. Afterwards, Jeff joined the Job Corps for a short time. After the Job Corps he met and married Toni Rodenberger. Together they had a son, Aaron. A few years later Jeff and Toni separated. After that Jeff started his painting business, Tight Line. Later his son Aaron partnered with him in his business. Unfortunately, Aaron was severely injured in 2012, which caused him to be unable to work. Jeff admired his son for his good nature, strength, and positive attitude in dealing with all his injuries.

In April of 2015, when Jeff was volunteering as a cook at the Elks, he needed a waitress. So he asked Debra Burns, Tess’ Mom to ask Tess if she wanted to work with him. She said Yes. He had the most beautiful smile. Tess called it his “Andy” smile (meaning Andy Griffith). Their first kiss was in front of the Eagles. For their first date he took her on a hike over Mount Erie. They were later married on November 8, 2020. They did everything together, from coffee at sunrise at the Port of Anacortes to morning walks on the loop road and Tommy Thompson trails to endless games of Yahtzee, to rock and stick collecting. They loved being in nature together, talking about dreams and plans for the future. They often discussed wanting to help the homeless. Together they loved all of natures animals. They experienced so many things together from having a family of 8 dogs and cats. They shared much laughter together and were big fans of the Seahawks.

Jeff enjoyed artistry painting, playing the guitar and harmonica, cooking and hiking.

He was preceded in death by his father Howard, his mother Rose, step-mother Shirley, brothers; Randy and Greg, and sisters; Melanie and Kimberly.

He is survived by his son, Aaron Stewart, Aarons mother Toni Stewart, grandsons; Timothy (TJ) Nelson and Leum Newman, brothers; Jim Stewart (Kathy), John Stewart (Susan) step-brother Larry Weis, half-brother George Moore (Lori), sisters; Cheryl Heck, Berte McComas (Bob), Michelle Stewart, half-sister Georgia Green (Dave) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by his wife, Tess, mother and father-in-law Bill and Debra Burns, brother-in-law Austin Johnson, his two step-daughters, Athena Othman, Melanie Wyman, and Xena Celeste (grand step daughter).

Jeff had many friends and will be well-remembered for his sense of humor and being a compassionate person who loved to help people down on their luck.
