Obituary for Isidra DeLuna
ISIDRA DeLUNA
Isidra DeLuna, age 81, of Oak Harbor, longtime former Santa Maria, CA resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Whidbey General Hospital, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. DeLuna was born in Praxedes G. Guerrero, Chihuahua State, Mexico, on May 15, 1933, to Cirilo and Enriqueta (Alva) Cordova. She was raised in San Lorenzo, Chihuahua. Isidra married Jesus DeLuna in the Spring of 1958. They moved to Juarez, Mexico, where they lived until 1967, at which time they relocated to El Paso, TX. In 1970 the couple moved with their family to Moses Lake, WA, where they resided until 1986. At this time they moved again to Lompoc, CA, where they lived until 1988, when they moved to Santa Maria, CA. They came to Whidbey Island, WA on June 24, 2014.
Above all else, Isidra loved her family. She was an ardent cook, and enjoyed gardening, especially fruit trees and roses. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Oak Harbor.
Isidra is survived by her loving husband, Jesus DeLuna, of Oak Harbor; eight children: Jesus DeLuna of Oak Harbor and twin brother Miguel DeLuna of Santa Maria, CA; Cecilia Gaeta (Leo) of Othello, WA and twin brother Ernesto DeLuna (Dina) of Oak Harbor; Luz Maria DeLuna-Staub of Murrieta, CA; Alfonso DeLuna (Jeanette), also of Murrietta, CA; Maria Elena Magana of Lompoc, CA; and Mario DeLuna (Maria) of Riverside, CA; her brother, Rosalio Cordova (Beatrice) of El Paso, TX; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David Lara; by two brothers, Feliciano and Jose Cordova and by one sister, Refugio Cordova.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 26, 2014, 8:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Rev. Paul Pluth, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
