Obituary for Gladys Adell Tassie

Gladys A Tassie, age 98 passed away on June 10,2022 in Oak Harbor, WA. She was born to William and Gladys Jacobsen on October 25th, 1923 in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Longview, Washington. The family moved to Port Townsend, WA. Gladys married Douglas P Tassie in March 20th 1999. He passed away 2010
Gladys was a Jill of all trades. She had her own restaurant near Longview, WA, worked as a judge and part time police officer in Port Townsend, WA.
During the war time she was on call to be a lookout for enemy planes near Astoria, OR.
Her favorite job was being a home maker and raising children. She was dedicated to her religion and gave as much time as she could. Doug and Gladys also had many missionaries from all over the world to come stay with them
Gladys attended Oak Harbor Church of the Nazarene 25+ years after she and Doug married. Her number one ministry at OHNaz was encouragement! She encouraged through sending notes, birthday and anniversary cards to everyone in the Church. She prayed for her pastor and missionaries all around the world daily. She and her husband Doug hosted a Bible study at their home. Gladys loved making yarn cross bookmarks for Bibles; she would usually put them in all the cards she sent. OHNaz Church family loved Gladys very much. While she was physically absent from services in recent years, her impact and love is still being felt by many around the world!

Gladys was preceded her in death by her parents William Kenneth Jacobsen (1970) and Gladys Irene Jacobsen (1995); brother William James Jacobsen (1993); sister Patricia Jean Berridge (1999)
She is survived by: brothers Robert (Nancy) Jacobsen of Longview, WA, Joseph ( Elizabeth) Jacobsen of Kelso WA; Sons George (Jayne) Strader of Glide, Oregon, Robert (Deena) Strader of Couer d’Alene, Idaho, Step son Clifford Tassie (Brenda) of Port Angeles, WA, Step daughter Leola Parke ( Steve) of Nampa, Idaho and many gran children, and nieces and nephews
Internment is at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor
