Obituary for Ed Joe Rose

Ed J. Rose
June 4, 1947 – December 19, 2020

Ed J Rose passed peacefully in his Oak Harbor; WA home surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2020 at 6:30 pm. Ed is survived by his wife Laura and daughters Tina Graham (Michelle, Natasha, Joshua, Matthew), Angela and Jon LaPrise (Jordan, Ian, Nathan) and Dana and Chris Albrandt (Hunter, Jacob, Paisley), sister Anita, and mother Donna Rose. He was a beloved husband, father, grand and great grandfather, son, brother, and uncle.

Ed was born on June 4th, 1947 to Richard and Donna Rose in Tacoma, WA.

He attended school in Mt. Vernon, WA until the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1957 and went on to graduate from Monroe High School in 1965. Shortly after moving to Alaska, Donna and Rich adopted Anita, an Alaskan Eskimo baby and Ed became a proud big brother.

He attended college at Regis University in Denver, CO for two years before enlisting in the Navy in 1968. He was stationed in Memphis, TN where he met his future wife, Laura.

Ed and Laura were married in 1969 and had three girls: Tina, Angela, and Dana. They were stationed in Maryland and Florida. Ed made one trip to Iceland before he separated from the Navy in December 1971 and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he worked for Sourdough Heating and Fueling. He and Laura then moved to Nenana, Alaska and ran a campground for ten years. He finally obtained a position as Lead Control Room Operator with GVEA in Healy where he retired after 25 years in 2004.

Ready for adventure on the open road with his honey Laura Lou, they traveled by RV for ten years traveling the western United States before settling in Oak Harbor, Washington joining the rest of Ed’s family.
Ed enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandchildren, RV’ing, tinkering, reading, bookwork, sci fi movies and munching on sunflower seeds. He never slept; he was just resting his eyes.

He was a quiet, thoughtful man, and his kindness and generosity never went unnoticed. He touched many lives and will be missed by all.

Ed is preceded in death by his father, Richard Allan Rose in 2005.
