Obituary for Douglas Frederick Dobbins

Douglas Frederick Dobbins

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Douglas Frederick Dobbins on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Doug passed away peacefully at home with his family.

Doug was born August 8, 1938 in Port Orford, Oregon to William Bryan Dobbins and Esther Lucille (nee Burgess) where he and his sister Martha were raised.

Doug proudly served in the Navy as a videographer/photographer for 22 years and retired from the Navy in October 1978 as an E-7. He took great joy in serving his country and in honing his skills in filmmaking and photography.

He served an LDS mission to Houston Texas. Upon his return from his mission, he married Elaine (nee Mundt). Tragically, Elaine passed away four years later leaving a son and daughter (Brian and Rachel). Doug later married Suzanne (nee Zeran) with whom they lovingly raised all of their children (Brian, Rachel, David, Gary, and Robert) over the course of their 50+ year marriage.

Doug is survived by his wife Suzanne, his children (Brian, Rachel Loetterle, David, Gary, and Robert), as well as his 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 201 NE O'Leary St, Oak Harbor, WA. He will be interred at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
