Dee Lorene (Smith) Willestoft, 91, passed to her heavenly home on October 16, 2020, in her home with her two children at her side. She was born to Roy Dee Smith and Verla Mae Bobbitt on November 6, 1928 in Camas, WA, where she lived until she married Neil Willestoft August 24, 1945. She lived in numerous locations throughout her life. She easily made new friends with each move and kept in touch with old friends throughout her life. Her final move was to Bellingham in 2004 to be near her daughter, Kathryn. She was cherished by her children, her sister, sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was the glue that held the family together. She loved to work in her garden and was an excellent cook. The many meals she lovingly prepared for family and friends and the wonderful conversation and fellowship around the table will be remembered forever. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Willestoft, and her son Anthony Willestoft. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Paula J. Yturbide.
Arrangements have been made with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial Funeral and Cremation Service.

Please no flowers at this time.
A family celebration of her life will be held at a later time.

Kathy, Remember going with you to stay with your mom.
She was always so welcoming and treated me like family.
Loved when we got the three moms (my mom, Bonnie's mom and your mom.)together for lunch. Now they are all in heaven together. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

When Kathy and I became friends back in the early 70's, Lorene became a second Mom to me. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a wonderful laugh. I can still hear her saying "oh you girls"!! She was a lovely woman and I'm so glad that she was a part of my life. Kathy, I love you dear friend. We know that Mom is with her Heavenly Father and that there will be a wonderful reunion in the sweet by and by.

Lorene was a precious lady. Every memory I have of her she was smiling. She had a huge smile. She was kindhearted.
Her children counted it such joy to be with her and tend to her needs. When I see their attentiveness with such love I know it was becasue they learned that love from Lorene,
She will be missed.
I send my love to her children and the friends she left behind.

Dear Kathryn, I was sad to hear about your mother’s passing because I know how close you were to her. Your mother was a wonderful person, and she will be missed by many. She was strong and thoughtful, and you know she is now out of pain and in a better place for her. My sincerest condolences go to you and your brother.

Please take care of yourself and keep in touch with your many friends who have you in their thoughts and prayers.

Wonderful "twinkle-in-her-eyes" neighbor and friend. Generously invited me and my partner to our first Thanksgiving after we moved into the neighborhood. It made us feel "adopted" into her extended family. Later after getting to know each other better, Dee always remembered our favorites and offered us home-made Kalua or had baked us a Red Velvet Cake! She loved flowers and funny stories. We tried to bring each with us when visiting. She is lovingly missed. ---Rick Flug
