DAISY LOUISE NESS
Daisy Louise Ness, age 88, of Oak Harbor, passed away at Harbor Towers Village on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
Mrs. Ness was born in Bremerton on November 5, 1926 to Adolphus and Florence (Moore) Nelson. She was raised in the nearby community of Crosby, and attended Silverdale schools. In 1944 Daisy married Gerald Grothaus, and the couple resided in Federal Way, where they raised their family. Daisy was a home care nurse for many years and also worked at her husband’s pharmacy, Jerry’s Drug in Federal Way.
Gerald Grothaus died on July 3, 1971. Daisy later married Irvin Ness, and the couple lived in Auburn. He preceded her in death in 1989. Daisy moved to Oak Harbor in 2013 and became a resident of Harbor Towers Village, where she immersed herself in the many social activities offered residents.
Daisy was a volunteer at Sea-Tac Airport Traveler’s Aid. While in Auburn, she was active in Respite Care at the Auburn Senior Activity Center. She had been a member of White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Steel Lake Presbyterian Church in Federal Way and Grace Community Church in Auburn.
Daisy is survived by her six children: Jackie Ralph of Sandy, UT, Patricia Mack and husband Tim of Freeland, Dennis Grothaus of Spokane, Phillip Grothaus and wife Kathy of Taylorsville, UT, Debbie Armstrong and husband Darrell of Oak Harbor and Terri Roedell and husband Randy of Bellingham; nearly seventy grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; niece Margit Loser of Bremerton and nephew Fred Loser and wife Jan of Oregon. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her brother David Nelson.
A Private Family Inurnment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn. A Celebration of Life with time for sharing memories will take place Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 1-4 PM at Auburn Senior Center. Memorials are suggested to Respite Care at Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 9th St. SE, Auburn, WA 98002.
