Charles G. ‘CHUCK’ BEAUDOIN
7/24/1932 – 11/28/2020
Charles G. “Chuck” Beaudoin passed-away on November 28, 2020 in Oak Harbor, Washington. Chuck was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 24, 1932, the son of Edward Beaudoin and Lily Tardif Beaudoin. He attended the University of Maine at Orono, where he met the love of his life, Lee Joy; they were married in 1954. After obtaining his BA in Business Administration, Chuck reported to USMC Officer
Candidate School in Quantico, VA. After commissioning he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in southern CA where he and Lee lived for several years and started a family. After service to his country, Chuck entered the field of computer programming in the 1960s and enjoyed a long career, starting in Augusta, ME and continuing in Clarksburg, MD where they lived for 37 years and raised their 5 children. He pursued his interests in music, tennis, hiking, biking, and photography; he especially enjoyed capturing the scenery of Whidbey Island. After Lee and Chuck moved to Oak Harbor in 2001, he worked as a volunteer State Long-Term Care Ombudsman in Island County, serving as an advocate for seniors in long-term care facilities. Chuck and Lee enjoyed their years in Oak Harbor and living close to their daughter Nancy Rouser and her husband Kenny and sons Jake and Nick. They made many wonderful friends here and formed especially strong bonds with their neighbors in Sunrise Hills.
Chuck will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his appreciation of nature and his keen eye with a camera. He will be remembered by his friends as kind-hearted and gentle, a man of few words, because he was a good listener. He will be remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always had a twinkle in his eye and a song in his heart. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lee, who passed-away in 2012. He is survived by his five children: Julia Nakken of Rockville MD, Daniel Beaudoin of Astoria NY, Susan Phelps of Naples FL, Jennifer Moffitt of Kensington MD, and Nancy Rouser of Oak Harbor; by nine grandchildren; and by four great-grandsons.
