Boots passed on Friday, January 27, at San Juan Care Center in Anacortes, due to complications from amyloidosis-induced strokes and Alzheimer's Disease.

Boots was born on August 3, 1933 in Tampa, Florida, the only child of Mary and Clifford Burgess. Though she had no siblings she had many cousins living in close proximity and the childhood memories she’s shared were days filled with beach trips, fishing, and steering clear of alligators.

Boots and family moved to Alameda, CA in her mid-teens and it was there that she met her first husband, Paul Wolff, marrying at 18 and having her only child, Jasmine, at 20. As an Army wife, she moved first to San Francisco and then to Stuttgart, Neu Ulm, Germany, where Boots and family lived until 1959. She and Paul divorced in 1976 and she relocated to Bellevue, WA, where her position as a sales representative for Weyerhaeuser had afforded her an opportunity for advancement. Her last job was as an independent personnel recruiter.

Boots met her future husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Anderson in 1984. They married in 1985 and settled in Seattle, WA. Soon after, they fell in love with Guemes Island, in Skagit County, and bought land there, beginning construction on a home in 1998 and moving to the island on a permanent basis in '99. Boots retired at that time and became active in Island life, enjoying participation in church and Island committees and making many friends, and joining the Anacortes PEO.

Boots is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter and son-in-law Jasmine and Ronald Schaeffer, Grandchildren Morgan Wolff and Lianna Miller, much loved unofficial daughter Cheryl Anderson, Step-children Tim, Steve, Rachel, and Peter Anderson, and cousins Jerry Starling of Petaluma, CA., and Pauline Beckham of Crawfordville, FL.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, at Guemes Community Church UCC, at 2pm, and on Sunday, February 5, at 1 p.m. at University UCC, at NE 45th St and l5th Ave. NE, Seattle, WA. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
