Obituary for Arthur Green Jr.

Arthur Green, Jr., DMD, CDR USN ret

On Saturday, July 2, 2022, Arthur Green, Jr., loving husband and father of two children, and three grandchildren passed away at the age of 72.
Arthur was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 19, 1949 and grew up in Robinson Township, attending Montour Schools. He received his BS from Grove City College in 1971 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where he graduated in 1975 with a degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine. After that Arthur fulfilled his commitment to the Navy from 1975 to 1978.
Upon his honorable discharge he opened private dental practices first in Hamilton, OH and then in Pittsburgh, PA. Arthur re-enlisted in the Navy in February of 1991, where he served his country as a dentist until his retirement on August 7, 2012. His Navy career was near and dear to his heart. He was stationed at Naval Air Station Keflavik, Camp Lejeune, Great Lakes Naval Training Center, USS Coronado, and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, to mention a few. Upon his Navy retirement he continued to practice his trade as a dentist at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA and then at Indian Health Service in Omak, WA.
Besides his skill as an extraordinary dentist, Arthur enjoyed many activities such as riding his motorcycle, flying his airplane, running marathons, lifting weights, endlessly shopping for a new car...or two, practicing at the rifle range, sailing in his boat, or simply taking in the water view of Saratoga Passage from his home in Coupeville, WA.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Green, brother Edward Green, sister Dr. Arlene Schlumbohm, daughters Heidi Green, Gretchen Pond and her husband Eric Pond, granddaughters Brooke and Gaille, grandson Nolan and his former spouse and the mother of his children, Kathleen B. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Lois A. Oaks and Arthur Green, as well as his sister Lois L. Kophamer.
His family, in accordance with his wishes, held a private interment. In leu of flowers, the family asks that donations instead be made to Arthur’s most loved charity, The Wounded Warrior Project, in his name; Wounded Warrior Project - Donate.
On August 8, 2022 at 2:30pm there will be a Military Funeral Honors and Committal Service at Tahoma National Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.
