My second Dad

Dear Joan, Kelly and Kim, We are so sorry and saddened to hear about Al passing away. I'm so thankful that I was able to come up to Washington in July and help him celebrate his 80th Birthday. I have the best memories of that weekend! Spending the weekend with Kelly and Dave, Kim and I running to the grocery store for last minute supplies, preparing all the food with Joan in their beautiful kitchen, talking with Anna and her friend Maddie, Al bringing me into his study, so he could open my gift with just me, riding The Wheel, flying home with Jeannie and Jim. The best memory I have is when the party was winding down and we were cleaning up. Al was sitting with a few of the neighbors and he called me over. He asked me if I had met his friends, and of course we all said yes, and then he paid me the most wonderful compliment. He told everyone sitting with him that I was the nicest person and if he could, he would adopt me as his daughter. Of course, I just giggled at him and waved off his compliment, but it truly meant so much to me and I consider it such a wonderful gift that he felt that way about me, because, I loved Al too and I consider him my second dad and I will miss him dearly. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort all of you now and in the days ahead. Prayers, Blessings and Love, God Bless, Bev, Andrew, Emilio and Jared
